Attending at the event were Standing deputy chairman of HCMC People's Committee Le Thanh Liem; Dante Brandi, Italian Consul General to HCMC, Italian businesses and people who are working an living in HCMC.
Mr. Le Thanh Liem showed his elation at the growing Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership with a sharp increase in two-way trade while receiving the Italian delegation. Italy has 26 projects worth around US$70 million in HCMC, ranking the 26th among 106 countries and territories worldwide that have investments in the city. The bilateral trade between Italy and HCMC reached US$609 million in 2018.
He also highlighted cooperation activities in trade, investment, culture and arts.
For his part, Italian Consul General Dante Brandi thanked Vietnamese local authorities for their support and cooperation for the Consulate General of Italy in HCMC.
He affirmed that Italy will further develop the relationship with localities in Vietnam in preserving and promoting cultural and architectural heritages, green traffic, tourism and economic development.
On this occasion, by order of the Italian President, Mr. Dante Brandi presented order of knighthood in recognition of service to the Italian Republic to Carlo Anzon, former Head of Italian Trade Commission in HCMC and the Italian Honorary Consul to HCMC in 2005-2012 for his outstanding contribution to the Vietnam-Italy relationship.
