4,000 disadvantaged children enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival

The Department of labor, Invalid, and Social Affairs in Ho Chi Minh City and the city’s Center for Children Social Work yesterday held a program “Vui Hoi Trang Ram “ ( Enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival) for over 400 disadvantaged children in the city.

This year, the city has organized many Mid-Autumn festivals in districts for over 4,000 disadvantaged children. Festival “Vui hoi Trang Ram” and the festival “Vang Trang Yeu Thuong” (Loving Moon) were held for 900 children; the festival “Vui Tet Trung Thu” ( Partaking in Mid-Autumn festival) for 250 kids from private and state centers of social sponsoring in Go Vap District also was launched.

1,430 other children in centers of social sponsoring received presents and 1,500 another children whose families are beneficiaries of welfare policies in 24 districts, schools and centers were offered gifts worth VND150,000 each.

In the night of September 25, a largest lantern parade will be held in the central province of Binh Thuan’s Phan thiet Town with the participation of nearly 3,000 students from primary and junior high schools in the town.

Students of each school with their lantern will walk through major streets including Nguyen Tat Thanh, Ton Duc Thang, Thu Khoa Huan and Tran Hung Dao. Each school will make from 70 to 100 lanterns of carious size to partake in the parade.

Nguyen van Luan, deputy chairman of Phan Thiet Town People’s Committee cum the head of organizing board said; “It is the annual traditional festival of the town, aiming to offer useful playing yard for local children and promote the province’s tourism.”
