26-year-old Tran Mau Duc from Phu Hoi ward in Hue city had suffered a fourth-stage heart failure, which put his life in danger. He was admitted in the Hue Central Hospital for treatment.

Doctor’s here gave him a new lease of life by transplanting a heart from a brain dead unknown donor.

Duc underwent a five-hour operation performed by Dr. Bui Duc Phu, director of Hue Central Hospital, assisted by nearly 100 hospital staff. Doctors had earlier conducted over 30 tests on recipient and donors to ensure the donor organ was suitable.

Dr. Phu said Duc had recovered fully as all his organs were working well. He advised Duc to take regular medication and monitor his health carefully.
