Vietnam recalls South Korean instant noodles from market

The Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) under the Ministry of Health officially asked all importers on November 6 to recall any consignments of South Korean instant noodles, after the South Korean Embassy announced voluntary removal of instant noodles manufactured by the Nongshim Company.

The South Korean Embassy said that although the amount of benzopyrene found in the noodles seasoning packets was lower than permissible limits and not harmful to human health, the Nongshim Company had used a particular raw material that violated the South Korean Law of Food Hygiene.

Accordingly, the South Korean Food and Drug Administration had asked the company to recall their products.

Two noodle brands made by the Nongshim Company were removed from the market, namely, ‘Neoguri Hot’ and ‘Neoguri Mild’ as per a decision reached by the Vietnam Food Administration.

VFA also asked its sub-divisions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to recall all above mentioned products and send their report to VFA.
