Vietnam ends health declaration against MERS from RoK

Vietnamese Ministry of Health yesterday sent its document to departments across the country and related agencies saying that Korean visitors will not be asked to fill out a medical declaration form before gaining entry.

As per the document, from August 15, Korean visitors don’t need to fill out the medical declaration form when they enter Vietnam through international border gates while other people from nine Middle East countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan and Iran must make health declarations as a procedure for their entry.

For fear for the spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome caused by the Corona virus (MERS-CoV), the Southeast Asian country’s Ministry of Health has asked international medical quarantine centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to pay more attention to foreign visitors.

The Ministry also asked locality governments to maintain supervision over international passengers through border gates as well as to update and publicize the information of the disease and list of epidemic-stricken countries.

The Ministry has promised to keep an eye on the development of the disease in the world to help people understand more about the disease and protect their health.

According to the World Health Organization, as of August 10, there have been no new cases detected in South Korea within 36 days. Before, on July 28 the South Korean government announced the disease has ended in the country and most countries in the world have lifted the travel warning to South Korea.
