Vietnam checks heavy metal in Herbalife

Following the death of an Indian girl after using nutritional supplement Herbalife in which heavy metals and bacterial contaminants exceed the limitation, Vietnamese health watchdog has jumped into investigation.
The Vietnam Food Administration under the Ministry of Health yesterday said it had directed its sub-division in Ho Chi Minh City to take samples in the local market randomly for testing heavy metals and bacteria.
Herbalife is a global nutrition and weight management company selling and marketing nutritional and weight loss supplements.
Testing proved that the product met all Vietnamese standard of food safety.
The administration affirmed imported and domestically-made nutritional supplements in the country ought to be checked before circulating in the market.
