More five-in-one vaccine added into EPI

The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology announced one more five-in-one vaccine was added into the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in May.
Indian-made vaccine SII is similar to Quinvaxem and ComBe Five in the program. Vaccine SII meeting the World Health Organization standard is set to make immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B and Hib.
To ensure its safety, the vaccine will be injected in some localities in the country and then it will be administered widely in year end.
Institute President Professor Dang Duc Anh said the new vaccine has been added into the program because of shortage of ComBe Five vaccine to provide enough vaccine for all children.
