According to the latest report by the Ministry of Health, since the beginning of the year more than 13 people have died of rabies in the northern provinces of Dien Bien, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Son La and the central province of Nghe An.

As per the report, the agriculture sector has been asked to strengthen and monitor control of dogs and rabies vaccination to curb rabies in humans.

The agriculture sector should implement awareness programmes to raise the responsibility of dog owners and alert communities about this dangerous disease, besides also keeping a close eye on any deaths of dogs to curb an outbreak in humans.
