Japan's Harelip and Cleft Palate Foundation has performed many surgeries on Vietnamese children suffering from harelip or cleft palate.

Since April 1993, the foundation has performed surgeries on over 1,300 children suffering from harelip or cleft palate in the southern province of Ben Tre, and provided US$75,000 to build a surgery area in Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital.

The foundation has annually carried out surgeries in Ho Chi Minh City and the central province of Ninh Binh since 1998.

Ms. Hoa has applauded the Japanese doctors and volunteers for their charitable efforts to bring smiles and joy to Vietnamese children with harelips and cleft palates.
