After a resident of Dong Hoai Hamlet in Thach Ha Commune in Ha Tinh Province found some strange worms in instant noodles under the brand name ‘3 Mien’, the Department of Food Safety under the Ministry of Health on August 17 ordered the provincial Department of Food Safety and Hygiene to collaborate with local authorities to inspect and verify this information and report before August 21.
In related news, the Department of Food Safety said that according to the latest report of the representative office of Abbott Laboratories S.A. in Vietnam, the company has so far withdrawn 24,196 of the 400g and 900g cans of Clostridium Botulinum contaminated Similac Gain Plus Eye-Q.
As for two batches of Gain Plus Eye-Q Step 3 in 1.7 kg containers, although the risk of being contaminated was small, the company has also recalled 4,007 cans, or 91.3 percent of the stock.
All recalled dairy products have been stored in two warehouses of 3A Nutrition Company in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The solution to destroy these products will be presented next week.
The representative office of Abbott Laboratories S.A. in Vietnam also said that via its distribution network, hotline, healthcare facilities, and the media, until now, no case of Clostridium Botulinum has been reported in Vietnam.
