Health Minister supervises prevention task in HCMC

A mission team led by Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday to supervise prevention task against the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in the city, amid fears of a possible spread.

A mission team led by Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday to supervise prevention task against the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in the city, amid fears of a possible spread.

The team came to the Tropical Disease Hospital and International Airport Tan Son Nhat, inspecting their activities to prevent and detect MERS.

Director of Tropical Disease Hospital Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau said that the hospital had set up a steering board who established detailed plan against the disease as per hypothetical situation.

Currently, addition to providing training to doctors in the hospital, the hospital has also helped their counterparts in other medical clinics.

In Tan Son Nhat Airport, where 3 flights from Middle East with 550 passengers and 7 flights from South Korea with around 1,200 passengers land every day, it's health quarantine centers are working hard to detect cases of infection.
