Health authority in Hanoi probes incident in 168 Hanoi Polyclinic

The Ministry of Health yesterday sent its document to the 168 Hanoi Polyclinic in Thanh Tri District asking to probe the incident in the infirmary causing pregnant woman brain death and Chinese doctor fleed.

The Ministry ordered the infirmary to support the pregnant woman during treatment in Bach Mai Hospital and provide precise information of the case to her relatives and media.

Additionally, the Ministry of Health also asked the department to urgently set up inspection team to visit private clinics especially pay attention to foreign medical workers. If violation is detected, inspectors must have drastic measures to deter people from committing it again.

Moreover, health authority in Hanoi must check public and private facilities to take care of pregnant women and kids.

Pregnant Tran Thi Thu Tr., 29 from the northern province of Ha Long March 5 came the infirmary for prenatal check-up yet later her relative was informed that she was in coma and treated in Bach Mai Hospital.

The relative said that Tr was healthy before coming to the private clinic. Worse, after the incident, Chinese doctor who prescribed medication and treated Tr in the 168 Hanoi Polyclinic fled away.
