Health authorities in HCMC ask to tighten control over drug business

For patients’ safety and drugs’ quality, in its dispatch to medical facilities, drug manufacturers, importers, wholesalers and retailers, the Department of Health in Ho Chi Minh City asked them to strictly comply with regulations.

As per regulations, these above-mentioned facilities can only sell medicine to public medical clinics and infirmaries while private institutions can buy medicine for emergency and operations as per their licenses. Pharmaceutical facilities must have licenses and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
Moreover, drug manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, retailers must keep legal document of suppliers and customers.
For drug retailers, shop assistants just sell drugs to patients who have doctors’ prescription. Moreover, they have to consult patients who have no doctors’ prescription. The drug store must keep information of prescription and patients’ record to track back when needed.
The health authority will revoke the license of these which don’t follow regulations.
