Four patients saved from donated organs of brain-dead people

Hanoi-based Viet-Duc (Viet-German) Hospital yesterday said that it had performed four transplantation cases thanks to donation of brain-dead people.

The hospital have carried out liver, heart, kidney transplantations to save four patients who had waited for years. The first is a 34 year old man who had been treated in Vietnam and Singapore. A 10 year old patient, the youngest one, has undergone the heart transplantation.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Uoc, head of the Cardiology and Chest ward, said that the ten year old patient suffer heart failure of the last stage. Accordingly, there is no choice but heart transplantation. It is a golden chance for him because no body had agree to give their heart for many years .

The patient is gradually recovering  now.
