Customers must show ID at pharmacy from March 1

As per the Ministry of Health’s circular No.52/2017/TT-BYT on prescription taking effect on March 1, parents must show their ID when they buy medicine for children under 72 months old.

One of the circular’s highlight is that medical workers must write the permanent or temporary residency of patients, the number of parents’ ID, information of health insurance number, ailment and name of drugs if kids are below 72 months old.
The circular also regulated the prescription for out-patients; plus, in prescription, generic drug use must be a priority. The number of prescribed drug must be within 30 days of use.
Heads of a hospital or head of a department must directly prescribe drug for a patient who is treated in three departments, according to the circular.
