Cho Ray Hospital performs surgery to remove giant facial tumor

Country's leading hospital Cho Ray in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday announced to successfully perform a surgery to remove a giant tumor on a female patient.

The hospital's surgeons had performed an operation on 21 year old girl hailing from the central province of Ha Tinh to cut off the tumor, which is the size of 10x15 cm.
The tumor covers a large part of her head and half of her face disfiguring her face and even protruding her right eye.
Her father and her had toured big infirmaries in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for 16 years for treatment but doctors refused to have operation. Her father Luan said that they are hopeless yet he did not resign all hopes when seeing he daughter to have self-destructive behaviors.
In June, 2017, renowned American plastic surgeon Mc Kay McKinon came to Vietnam and he liaised with Cho Ray for free operation on patients with rare tumor. The girl was undergoing the operation on June 15.
However, after examination, the well-known American surgeon and his Vietnamese colleagues decided to remove a part of the tumor because they supposed the tumor spreads into brain.
Surgeons took away half of the tumor after a five hour operation. The surgery can help the girl to see.
She was discharged on June 30 as her health condition is stable.
