700-bed general hospital opens in Soc Trang province

The People’s Committee in the Mekong delta province of Soc Trang yesterday opened the General Hospital with 700 beds.

The hospital was built in the area of 12.2 hectare with total cost of VND1,647 billion; of the amount, VND823 billion is taken from selling the government’s bond and the remain is from the local state-budget.

The hospital has three buildings and the main one with nine floors. It is designed following modernized style and state-of-the-art equipment. It has 12 surgery rooms with two of them connected with big hospitals for consultation for complicated cases.

In the inaugural ceremony, Party Deputy Secretary cum chairman of People’s Committee Tran Van Chuyen, highly praised relevant agencies which support the hospital construction urging the health sector to perform well in treating and serving patients.

Additionally, the hospital should concentrate on training to improve physicians’ skills, medical workers should exchange to learn from their colleagues. Moreover, the hospital should exchange with their colleagues in leading hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and provinces.
