Vietnamese students won gold, silver and bronze medals at the 44th International Chemistry Olympiad held in the USA from July 21-30.
Pham Dang Huy of Tran Phu High School in Hai Phong won the gold medal.
Silver medals went to Nguyen Van Phuong of Nguyen Hue High School and Nguyen Viet Hoang of Amsterdam High School in Hanoi.
Only female member of the Vietnamese team, Tran Thi Mai Huong from Le Hong Phong High School in Nam Dinh Province won a bronze medal.
Earlier, Vietnamese students won gold, silver and bronze medals at the International Physics Olympiad, held in Estonia from July 16-24.
The national maths team won gold, silver and bronze medals and was ranked 9th at the 53rd International Maths Olympiad held in Mar del Plata in Argentina from July 10-11.
The 44th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) attracted 283 participants from 72 countries and territories across the world.
The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual competition for the world's most talented chemistry students at the secondary school level. Nations around the world send a team of four students, who are tested on their knowledge of chemistry and skills in a five-hour laboratory practical and five-hour written theoretical examination.
The first IChO was held in Prague, former Czechoslovakia ( now the Czech Republic ) in 1968. The event has been held every year since then, with the exception of 1971.
