Vietnamese students win at Int’l Olympiad in Informatics

Vietnamese students won three silver medals and one bronze medal at the 24th International Olympiad in Informatics, held in Italy from September 22-30.

The national team that won silver medals included Nguyen Viet Dung from the High School for Gifted Students of the Hanoi University of Pedagogy; Vu Dinh Quang Dat from the High School for Gifted Students of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Nguyen Tuan Anh from Tran Phu High School in Hai Phong.

A bronze medal went to Nguyen Huu Thanh from Le Quy Don High School in Da Nang City.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, and the People’s Committees of Hanoi and Da Nang granted certificates of merit and presents to the students on October 1.

Earlier, Vietnamese students won gold, silver and bronze medals at the 44th International Chemistry Olympiad held in the US from July 21-30.

Vietnamese team won gold, silver and bronze medals at the International Physics Olympiad held in Estonia from July 16-24.

The national maths team won gold, silver and bronze medals and was ranked 9th at the 53rd International Maths Olympiad held in Mar del Plata in Argentina from July 10-11.

The annual International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is one of the most prestigious computer science competitions in the world. The first IOI was held in 1989 in Pravetz in Bulgaria.
