Vietnamese students win at 2016 IOI

Vietnamese students (Photo) won two gold medals at the 2016 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) took place from August 12-19 in Russia.

Vietnamese students (Photo) won two gold medals at the 2016 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) took place from August 12-19 in Russia.

The medals belonged to Phan Duc Nhat Minh and Pham Cao Nguyen, both from the High School for the Gifted of the National University of Ha Noi.

Meanwhile Tran Tan Phat, from the High School for the Gifted of the National University of HCM City, earned a silver medal and Le Quang Tuan, from the High School for the Gifted of the National University of Education, grabbed a bronze medal.

With the result, Vietnam was ranked the 8th at the competition.
The 28th IOI 2016 attracted 308 candidates of 81 countries and territories worldwide. 154 candidates won medals, including 26 gold medals, 51 silver medals and 77 bronze medals
The annual International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is one of the most prestigious computer science competitions in the world. The first IOI was held in 1989 in Pravetz in Bulgaria.
