Vietnam bags three gold, two silver medals at Int’l Physics Olympiad 2015

Vietnamese team grabbed three gold and two silver medals at the 2015 International Physics Olympiad, which concluded in Mumbai, India, said the Education Testing and Quality Control Department under the Ministry of Education on July 12.

The gold medals went to twelfth-grader Vu Thanh Trung Nam from Hanoi-based Amsterdam Specialized High School, twelfth-grader Nguyen Cong Thanh from Tran Phu Senior High School for the Gifted in the northern province of Hai Phong; eleventh-grader Dinh Thi Huong Thao from  Le Hong Phong Senior High School for the Gifted in the northern province of Nam Dinh. The two silvers were granted to twelfth-grader Nguyen Ngoc Khanh from Phan Boi Chau Specialized Senior High School in the central province of Nghe An and eleventh-grader Nguyen Quang Nam from the Specialized Senior High School under the Pedagogy University.

In addition, gold medal grabber Dinh Thi Huong Thao was granted a special prize as a female candidate to have best performance at the Int’l Physics Olympiad 2015.

Compared to last year’s achievement and other countries and territories in the Asia, Vietnam passed Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand to rank after China and Taiwan (China)

The Ministry of Education and Training will hold a ceremony to welcome the team as they will arrive at the International Noi Bai Airport today and grant winners certificates of merits signed by Education Minister.
