Over $200 mil invested in building Vietnamese-German University

Total investment capital is over US$200 million of which US$180.4 million from preferential loan of The International Development Association (IDA) and US$20.2 million from the government’s budget aiming to develop educational facility management, training growth and scientific research.

The 50.5 hectare school includes halls, library, dormitory, houses for lecturers, administrative rooms and other utilities. After finished, the school will provide training to 12,000 students.

The Vietnamese-German University was set up in 2008 on the basis of cooperation between the governments of Vietnam and Federal Republic of Germany. Currently, the school is providing training to 1,200 students of 11 subjects. Lectures are delivered in English.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan, Education Minister Phung Xuan Nha, representatives of the Ministry of Science, German Hessen Art, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vietnam and the World Bank.
