Needy students in Tuyen Quang Province given scholarships

To commend and reward students who achieved good results in studying in the academic year 2014-2015 and encourage them to continue in the next year, Vietnamese Vice President and Chairwoman of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children Nguyen Thi Doan awarded 120 scholarships to children in the northern province of Tuyen Quang on August 16.

To commend and reward students who achieved good results in studying in the academic year 2014-2015 and encourage them to continue in the next year, Vietnamese Vice President and Chairwoman of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children Nguyen Thi Doan awarded 120 scholarships to children in the northern province of Tuyen Quang on August 16.

Totally scholarships are worth VND240 million (US$10,862). This is the second time the scholarship program "Cung em den truong" (Going to school with you) of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children has been held in Tuyen Quang Province.

The scholarship programs for disadvantaged children in the country have been carried out since 1993 and it has so far supported 35,000 scholarships to needy good students, children of martyrs and wounded soldiers and children from ethnic minority groups in disadvantaged districts.

"Cung em den truong" scholarship program has been initiated by Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan since 2012 awarding 8,734 children in 63 cities and provinces in the country with total expenditure of VND25.4 billion (US$1,149,604)
