Needy, disabled students, orphans receive scholarships

500 students from low-income families, orphans and disabled students in Ho Chi Minh City’s districts 12 and Binh Chanh and in the Mekong delta provinces of Tien Giang and Vinh Long were offered scholarship yesterday.

The Sponsoring Association of Poor Patient in HCMC organized a meeting to offer scholarships to these students aiming to encourage them in learning.
Each scholarship is worth VND1.2 million with books sponsored by Sai Gon Tourism Company.
After seven year implementation of the scholarship-giving program, more than 3,400 students received scholarships totalling VND4.7 billion ($206,756).
In the academic year 2016-2017, the Association received support from local and international contribution of organizations and individuals and it offered 1,980 scholarships worth VND1.9 billion to needy students and disabled students.
