People’s Committee in Ho Chi Minh City has approved the Department of Education and Training’s proposal not to increase tuition fee of the academic year 2018-2019

Accordingly, in the group 1, parents of toddlers below the age of three in preschools in districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Thu Duc and Binh Tan will pay VND200,000 ($8.5) monthly per head while parents of kids from three to five years old pay VND160,000 monthly per head.
Parents of junior and senior high school students will pay VND100,000 and VND120,000 monthly per head.
Parents of primary schools don’t pay school fee.
In the groups 2, parents of kids under and above three in preschools in districts Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Can Gio and Nha Be will pay VND140,000 and VND100,000 per month for a kid.
Junior and senior high school will pay VND85,000 and VND100,000 per month for a student.
All graders in high schools for gifted student will enjoy exemption of tuition fee and facility contribution as per regulation like years before. Other charges will be collected like previous years.
The city is grappling with school shortage because the number of students increased over 67,000 in the academic year. In order to ensure seats for all students, the city has spent VND2,300 billion to build 900 classrooms.
