City Education sector holds fair to fete its achievements

Ho Chi Minh City education sector March 20 held a festival  themed " The city's education and training in 40 years" to showcase its achievements in the last 40 years in Independence Palace.

The event organized by the Department of Education and Training is part of serries of the city's education sector activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Southern Liberation Day on April 30.

The festival has 9 sections to showcase accomplishments such as advanced schools, good examples of good teachers who are devoted in teaching profession, student movements through periods and models of friendly-environmental classes.

The three day Education Development festival also included workshops on innovative methods of teaching English and computers, advanced education in the digital age, and career counseling models to improve human resources.

Addressing the festival, Hua Ngoc Thuan, deputy chairman of the municipal People's Committee, highly appreciated the city education sector's achievements in 40 years which are good examples for the whole country. The city always leads in renovating and improving its quality. The city took initiatives in applying many new teaching methods; investing in schools; advanced teaching models in the world as well as adopt policies to take care of teachers and calling for social contribution to the sector.

At the event, Vietnam Education Publishing House gave scholarships and textbooks to needy but good students in the city worth VND250 million (US$11,632).
