179 students receive Vallet scholarships

179 students in the highlands provinces and the central provinces of Ninh Thuan , Khanh Hoa who study well and get high marks for natural science and literature were awarded Odon Vallet scholarships in Lam Dong province on September 3.

The scholarships, worth a total of nearly VND2 billion ($85,930), aim to encourage needy students to surmount their difficulties in lives to have good performance at schools. Of the amount, VND425 million were given to 25 students of universities in Da Lat , Nha Trang and Tay Nguyen each worth VND17 million.
The remaining sum was given to 154 students from senior high schools and ethnic boarding schools in highlands provinces, Khanh Hoa and NInh Thuan provinces, Hermann Gmeiner Da Lat and Nha Trang each worth VND10 million.
In the academic year 2018, the scholarship fund Vallet of the “Meeting Vietnam” organization awarded 3,200 scholarships totally worth VND25 billion to good students nationwide.
The scholarship fund was established by Prof. Odon Vallet through the “Meeting Vietnam” organization founded by Prof. Tran Thanh Van.
Prof. Odon Vallet is from France’s Sorbonne University. He has received a large inheritance valued at EUR100 million and decided to give the annual interest on this fortune to poor students in France and Vietnam.
Since 2001, through the “Meeting Vietnam” organization, the Odon Vallet scholarship fund has given scholarships to thousands of Vietnamese students.
