179 students offered Vallet scholarships

The Rencontre du Vietnam (Meet Vietnam) organization today awarded 179 scholarships to students from low-income families in the Central Highlands provinces and two central provinces of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan.

Each scholarship for a high school student and a university student is worth VND9.5 million ($417.9) and VND16 million ($703.8), totalling over VND1.8 billion.
The students at the meeting have gained outstanding academic achievements and good conduct. 120 students come from schools for gifted students and special school for ethnic minority; 34 students of Hermann Gmeiner schools in Nha Trang Town and in Da Lat Town received the scholarship and 25 students in Lam Dong  province were granted the scholarship.
The organization board planned to give more than 2,500 scholarships to Vietnamese students in 2017 with total cost of VND25 billion.
With his contribution in encouraging Vietnamese students in learning for years, French Professor Odon Vallet has been awarded Friendship Medal lately.
