World-class musical talents to perform in HCMC, Danang

The young musical talents including Antonia Koster (Piano) and Sindri Lederer (Violin) coming from German will conduct courses at the summer academy in HCMC together with the musicians Zoe Martlew (Cello-UK) and Juliet White-Smith (Viola-USA).

The young musical talents including Antonia Koster (Piano) and Sindri Lederer (Violin) coming from German will conduct courses at the summer academy in HCMC together with the musicians Zoe Martlew (Cello-UK) and Juliet White-Smith (Viola-USA).

They will perform two concerts in two big cities. In HCMC, the concert will be taken place at the Conservatory of Music located at 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1 on August 11 and in Danang, it will be on August 21 at Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theater, 155 Phan Chau Trinh Street.

The summer academy is realised by a cooperation of the Goethe-Institute, the Transposition Program and the Conservatory of Music in HCMC.

The pianist Antonia Köster was a student of Kalle Randalu at the University of Music Karlsruhe and completed her master’s degree under the supervision of Ian Fountain at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She already cooperated with numerous high-ranking musicians like the pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja and the French pianist Pascal Devoyon, amongst others.

The violinist Sindri Lederer finished his studies under the guidance of Christoph Schickedanz at the University of Music Hamburg and under Uwe-Martin Haiberg at the Berlin University of Arts. He gained further musical insights through renowned musicians like the pianist Menahem Pressler and Emanuel Ax and the cellist and conductor David Geringas.

The cellist Zoë Martlew is the artistical director of the Saigon Chamber Music Festival. Not only as a soloist but also with famous ensembles of contemporary music like London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern and Birmingham Contemporary, she performs on stages all around the world. Besides contemporary music, Zoë Martlew is interested in other art forms like improvisation or theatre and
covers a wide spectrum from electronica and pop to rock.

The viola player Juliet White-Smith is both a soloist and part of several chamber music ensembles. Her musical career led her to play with famous artists like the violinist Andres Cardenes and Benny Kim,the pianist Gilbert Kalish, the Merling Trio and the Da Vinci Quartet. Juliet White-Smith already taught at the Eastman School of Music (New York), the Pennsylvania State University and further universities
both in the United States as well as in Thailand.
