Winners Named in Painting Contest Honoring President Ton Duc Thang

Ninety seven prizes, including nine A prizes, 13 B prizes, 20 C prizes and 55 consolation prizes, were awarded to children taking part in a painting contest “Children and President Ton Duc Thang”.

The award ceremony of a painting contest entitled “Children and President Ton Duc Thang” took place at the Ton Duc Thang Museum in District 1 Sunday. 

Begun in June, the competition attracted more than 350 artworks of over 300 city residents 5 and 14 years of age.

The event was organized by the Ton Duc Thang Museum, the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Art Association, HCMC Children’s Cultural House and HCMC Fine Art University to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the late president birth on August 20 and to mark 20th founding anniversary of Ton Duc Thang Museum.

Mr. Ton Duc Thang was a patriot and a Communist who served as vice president for President Ho Chi Minh. He was president from 1969 until his death in 1980.

The Ton Duc Thang Museum was established on the occasion of the late President Thang's centenary in 1988.  The museum has more than 600 items, documents and photos relating to the life of Mr. Thang, who is remembered as a great patriot and a model fighter
