The well-known director will also help enhance young Vietnamese actors’ performing skills while sharing an exchange of American theater techniques with students.

The project is part of the US Department of State Cultural Envoy Program, which will be held from October 29th to December 3rd.

Main factors on stage are communication and personal contact with audience. I have experience in directing drama in some countries even though I do not speak their language. However, we find a common language on stage, the director said.

He added that he has quickly bonded with Vietnamese artists and has got to know and understand them despite the language barrier and the differences between the American literal presentation of the play and the Vietnamese metaphorical interpretation.

Director Neil Fleckman is popular for the Canadian premiere of the play Extremities by William Mastrosimone, Barry Keating's satire Hollywood Opera and Kaye Ballard in Concert. He has had a nationwide tour in the US. He was granted Artist of the Year Award in 2004 by the Southwest Theatre Assocıatıon in the US.
