State leader greets Khmer traditional New Year

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has sent greeting letter to the Khmer community nationwide on the occasion of Chol Chnam Thmay, their traditional New Year festival, in the middle of April.

In a letter on behalf of the Government, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue highly appreciated the Khmer people for complying with the Party policies and State laws and their achievements and contribution in building new rural areas and urban civilization.

He hoped that the Khmer ethnic groups will continue upholding their tradition, promoting solidarity and making the effort to build that better life.

The traditional Chol Chnam Thmay Festival of the Khmer people which falls annually in mid-April, is one of the most important festivals of the year for the Khmer people. It lasts three days or four days and is usually held in a pagoda during which people wish and pray for a lucky New Year, good health and prosperity.
