Soc Trang province’s contestant wins 13th Cai Luong Singing Contest

Lam Thi Kim Cuong, 20, from the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang won the 2018 Cai Luong Singing Contest called Chuong Vang Vong Co (Cai Luong Golden Bell) which ended at Ho Chi Minh City Television Theater on September 30.

Silver Bell award and the third place went to Vo Thi Ngoc Quyen and Pham Van Nguyen respectively.
Lam Thi Kim Cuong, Vo Thi Ngoc Quyen and Bien Thi Kim Thuy also got the Audience Choice Awards for four consecutive nights in the final round.
The organization board also presented the Press Choice Award to Lam Thi Kim Cuong, the 2018 online Vong Co Singing award to Tran Thi Be Nam.
Launched three months ago, the 13th Cai Luong Singing Contest which was organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television attracted 330 contestants nationwide. The jury narrowed down from 36 selected contestants to just 9 in the final round.
Besides discovering young talent, the annual competition also aims at keeping alive the tradition of Cai Luong and fostering a love for folk opera among young people.
