The relics include the Hai Tang Pagoda, Tien Hien grave, a Cam Village well, an ancestral trade village of swallow breeding, Ong Ngu grave and archaeological sites of Bai Ong and Bai Lang.

The ceremony to honor these sites will be held on June 29 at the Quang Nam Heritage Itinerary Festival, which is due to take place from June 26-30 at Cu Lao Cham, 19 kilometers from the Hoi An Ancient Town.

This archipelago, with eight big and small islands covers an area of 15 square kilometers and has recently received recognition as a world biosphere reserve by UNESCO.

According to scientists, Cu Lao Cham is home to over 947 species of organism, of which 170 sea organisms, 50 fish, and many other species are classed as endangered by Vietnam’s Red Book. The area is also home to 135 species of coral, including six that are new to Vietnamese seas.

3,000 years ago, Cu Lao Cham was home to many ancient inhabitants; and over time, the island saw the birth of Sa Huynh, Cham Pa, and Dai Viet cultures.
