A historic museum on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos will be built in Ly Son Island in the central province of Quang Ngai at a cost of over 140 billion VND.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Cao Khoa said on September 16 that the museum will be located in An Hai commune and close to Hang (Cave) pagoda, a national cultural-historical heritage.
Ly Son Island is home to around ten provincial or national cultural-historical sites. More than half of the relics, pagodas and documents preserved by local families directly relate to the history of Vietnam ’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Particularly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recognized the Feast and Commemoration Festival for Hoang Sa Soldiers as a national intangible heritage.
An Vinh communal house, where villagers in the old days gathered to discuss the selection and recruitment of soldiers sent to Hoang Sa archipelago, has also been listed as a national cultural heritage.-VNA
