Kite Film Awards attract 141 movies

Around 141 cinematic works will compete in the Canh Dieu ( Kite ) Awards in 2019, according to the Vietnam Cinema Association.

The cinematographic submissions consist of 14 featured films, 13 TV movies, 61 documentaries, 11 cartoons, 26 short films, 14 science, 2 film studies and criticism.
Free screenings of nominations will take place at cinemas, Cinestar and BHD Star Quang Trung in HCMC and at the Central Science Documentary Film Studio in Hanoi from April 8-10.
This year’s event will honor late People's Artist Pham Khac nad cameraman Nguyen The Doan who have made outstanding contribution to Vietnamese cinema.
The jury board includes many big names such as Asscociate Professor Tran Luan Kim, People's Artist Tra Giang, scriptwriter Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, musician Pho Duc Phuong, film sound expert Nguyen Tho Ha, Meritorious Artists Vu Xuan Hung, Nguyen Duc Viet, Bui Tuan Dung and Nguyen Trung Phan.
The Kite Awards is one of the annual the prestigious film award of the Vietnam Cinema Association.
Awards include the titles, “Golden Kite Award”, “Silver Kite Award”, “The jury award”, “Best director”, “Best cameraman”, “Best actor”, “Best actress”, “Best designer” and among to winners in every category.
The award ceremony will be held at the at the Military Theater in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh District on April 12 and broadcast live on VTV2 channel.
