Kien Giang contestant wins 12th Cai Luong Singing Contest

Nguyen Van Khoi, 29, from the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang won the 2017 Cai Luong Singing Contest called Chuong Vang (Golden Bell) Vong Co which ended at Ho Chi Minh City Television Theater on September 24.

Khoi also got the Audience Choice Awards in the 4th final night.
Le Kim Cuong earned the Silver Bell Award and the Press Choice Award. The Bronze Bell Award went to Phan Thi Hoang Oanh. Vo Hoang Du received the Audience Choice Awards for three consecutive weeks. The organization board also presented 6 encouragement prizes.
Launched three months ago, the 12th Cai Luong Singing Contest which was organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television attracted hundreds of contestants nationwide. The jury narrowed down from hundreds of contestants to just 12 in the final round
Besides discovering young talent, the annual competition also aims at keeping alive the tradition of Cai Luong and fostering a love for folk opera among young people.
