Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017 to attract 350 artisans

The biennial Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017 themed “The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts”will be held in Hue, the capital city of Thua Thien-Hue Province on April 28-May 2, announced the People’s Committee of Hue City at a press briefing in Hanoi on April 5.

The 7th event will attract 350 artisans from 60 well-known craft villages across the country, displaying their traditional handicraft products, such as ceramics, brocades, silk, terracotta, paper flowers, lanterns, silver and gold jewelry.

The festival also features the participation of countries, which have sister and cooperative cities with Hue, such as Takayama, Saijo and Shizouk of Japan; and Korea’s Busan.

The event aims to honor traditional country crafts and promote Hue’s destinations to visitors. Many tours to handicraft villages in Hue will be available from travel agencies during this period, including Thanh Tien village that has been well-known for the craft of making paper flowersfor over 300 years in the imperial capital of Hue; Sinh folk paiting village and others.

Some of the highlight activities of the festival are Ao Dai fashion show at Truong Tien Bridge on the evening of 30 April, which will showcase AO dai collection of designers, Minh Hanh, Vu Viet Ha and Viet Bao; and a parade of 200 female students wearing Ao dai.
