HCMC’s cultural heritages presented in Hanoi

HCM City's cultural heritages, Don Ca Tai Tu (Southern amateur music) and Can Gio district’s Nghinh Ong (Whale Worshiping) Festival) have been presented at the Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Space at the Vietnamese Culture and Arts Exhibition Center, 2 Hoa Lư Street in Hanoi.

Don Ca Tai Tu Nam Bo (southern amateur traditional music) was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage being held in Baku, Azerbaijan in December, 2013.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized the annual Nghinh Ong (Whale Worshiping) Festival held in Can Gio District in Ho Chi Minh City as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013.The annual festival is celebrated on the fifth day of August on the Lunar Calendar with festivities including various rituals to worship the Whale or Ca Ong, and prayers for good seas, happiness and prosperity. It is an opportunity for Can Gio district to promote its image and highlight its quintessential traditional features to local and international visitors.
The Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Space aims at promoting and honoring values of national heritages, including those recognized internationally by UNESCO as well as giving a cultural exchange opportunity between localities.
Another highlight of the annual event is an exhibition of Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress), presenting the history of Ao dai of Female General Nguyen Thi Dinh, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh and former ambassador of Vietnam to the E.U and Belgium, Ton Nu Thi Ninh.
The event also includes a photo exhibition featuring 100 pictures of 89 photographers which are selected from the Vietnam heritage photo contest 2018.
