Hanoi marks 110th death anniversary of Dao Tan

A ceremony marking the 110th death anniversary of one of the most prominent Tuong singing (Vietnamese classical opera) composers in the country, Dao Tan was held in Hanoi on September 19.
Dao Tan (1845-1907) was born in the central province of Binh Dinh. He is considered as the innovator of Tuong (Vietnamese classical opera) art.
He left behind more than 1,000 poems, 40 Tuong plays, theater theory books and other art works.
The composer has been highly credited in developing Tuong art in the country. The "banyan tree" in this traditional art kind was honored as a "Cultural Celebrity" for great contribution to Tuong singing.
The event was also aimed to commemorate the 172nd of the birth of Dao Tan.
