French artists give classical music performance in Hanoi

French artists, including pianist Hélène Jeanney and flutist Nicolas Duchamp will give a performance at the French Cultural Center-L’Espace, in Hanoi on May 26.

The concert titled “French Impressionism – The Classic Composers” aims to mark the 100th death anniversary of French impressionist composer, Claude Debussy who was among the most influential and beloved of all French composers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
They will together perform 6 French masterpieces of chamber music: “Syrinx” and “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” by Claude Debussy (1862-1918), Sonata for piano and flute by Francis Poulenc (1899-1963), Sonata in A major, opus 13 for piano and flute by Gabriel Fauré (1845-1824), “The Joyful Island” by Claude Debussy (piano solo) and finally “The Blackbird” by Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992).
The music show was early organized in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24.
