Ford Foundation Grants US$100,000 for Hue Festival 2008

The US Ford Foundation has granted US$100,000 to the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province to support the art programs of the biennial Hue Festival to take place from June 3-11.

The US Ford Foundation has granted US$100,000 to the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province to support the art programs of the biennial Hue Festival to take place from June 3-11.

The money will be used to research, fund and recreate traditional courts and festivities including an evening party, enthronement and Hue royal arts performances such as nha nhac and Hue folk song and more.

The theme will be “The Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development” festival Hue 2008. It hopes to showcase the cultural values of Hue and Viet Nam through hundreds of art performance programs such as musical plays, circuses, street art and unique installation works.

There will also be more than 27 art troupes from Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America taking part in the Hue Festival 2008, according to the Thua Thien-Hue Province People’s Committee.
