A photo exhibition entitled “Tet in Ha Noi” by French photographer Daniel Frydman, took place at the head office of the Association of Vietnamese People in France yesterday. The exhibition will run until February 18.
The exhibition features more than 50 photos taken in 2006, depicting events occurring during Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration in Ha Noi. Images range from colorful flower-markets and bustling streets to solemn religious rites in pagodas and pre-Tet preparations like the cleaning of houses and ancestral altars.
The exhibit has already garnered a good deal of interest from both French and Vietnamese visitors alike.
Frydman says he has fallen in love with Ha Noi and each time he comes he ends up staying longer. While taking photographs for the exhibition, he became deeply impressed by the Vietnamese people’s respect for their family altars, student’s respect for teachers and the close bonds within their families.
Money collected from the exhibition will go to support the Association of Vietnamese Agent Orange Children Victims.
