Crown of Miss Vietnam 2016 inlaid with 3,260 sapphires

The crown of Miss Vietnam 2016 is handcrafted from 63 pearls and 3,260 sapphires by 40 artisans in over three months, the organization board announced at a press conference of the northern qualifying round in Hanoi on July 5.

The crown can costs VND 2.2 billion, describing Ho Chi Minh City as the most dynamic and prosperous city in the country. 63 pearls and 3,260 sapphires symbolize 63 provinces and cities, and a 3,260km long coastline in Vietnam.

140 candidates will participate in the Northern regional qualifying round of Miss Vietnam beauty contest 2016 to take place at Ha Long City on July 9.

The jury will choose top 40 best contestants fro the final examinations from July 11-17.  Selected beauties will participate in a series of sideline events, including promoting Ha Long tourism, joining environmental, social and charitable activities. The final night will be broadcast live on channels, VTV9, Binh Duong, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Kien Giang, Lam Dong, Bac Lieu, Thai Binh, Hanoi, Bac Kan, Tay Ninh and Ninh Thuan at 8 p.m. on July 17.

Meanwhile top 18 contestants who were chosen from 30 candidates of the Southern regional qualifying round in Ho Chi Minh City on June 6-12  have taken part the pageant’s programs in the city’s Can Gio District, Quang Ngai Province’s Ly Son island, provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, central coastal and highland regions.

The final night of Miss Vietnam Beauty Pageant 2016 will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 27.
40 beauties throughout the country will be chosen for the final round. They will participate in a series of sideline events, including taking part in charity projects and selfless acts within their groups.

They will present their projects and the winner of the best project will receive the Beauty with a Purpose Award.

The winner will receive a cash prize of VND500 million (US$21,000). The first and second runners-up will take away cash prizes of VND300 million and VND200 million respectively.

Started in 1988, Miss Vietnam is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the country, aiming to honor knowledge, morality and beauty of Vietnamese women. The winner of the contest will have a chance to be a representative of the country to take part in the international beauty pageants.
