The music show will present to music lovers compositions of the Finnish leading composer and violinist of the late Romantic and early-modern periods, Jean Sibelius, including the concerto for Violin in D minor, Op. 47 which is the most performed and recorded composition in the 20th century and released over 50 recordings in the 21st century; the 2nd Symphony in D major, Op. 43 that is also called the Independence Symphony.
Musical works will be performed by violinist Vu Viet Chuong, HBSO’s symphony orchestra under the baton of Finnish conductor Kalle Kuusava.
Jean Sibelius (1865 – 1957) is widely recognized as his country's greatest composer and, through his music is often credited with having helped Finland to develop a national identity during its struggle for independence from Russia.
