Canon has just launched the Photo Marathon Asia 2007 in Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam from this month to October to celebrate its 70th anniversary.

It’s a unique photography contest that challenges the creativity, imagination and endurance of photographers by requiring them to submit images within a few hours based on various themes that will be revealed on the day of the contest.
The first contests will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on August 18 and on August 25 in Ha Noi. Malaysia will hold its own on August 26, the Philippines on September 15, Thailand on October 14 and Singapore on October 20.
Three sets of prizes (1 winner, 1 runner-up & 1 merit award) and a "Best of Show" worth VND130 million will be given for the best pictures in each round. Each winner will also receive a new Canon camera.
Two winners selected as representatives of each country will have a chance to win the grand prize of the Photo Clinic on December 3-10 in Kyushu, Japan.
