The Radio and Television Station of Binh Thuan Province has stopped broadcasting the Chinese television series “Shanghai Bund”, deputy director of the provincial television Dang Thi Kim Oanh announced on July 16.

The Radio and Television Station of Binh Thuan Province has stopped broadcasting the Chinese television series “Shanghai Bund”, deputy director of the provincial television Dang Thi Kim Oanh announced on July 16.

The decision was issued after the film’s leading actor, Huang Xiaoming and actress Sun Li had protested the recent judgment of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) on the East (South China) Sea.

In May 2014, the station also cancelled all Chinese movies to oppose China’s illicit placement of drilling rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

The suspension became effectively on July 16.  The station has already screened the 17th episode of the 40-episode television series.
