Australian art group to perform circus in city

The Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City announced June 8 it organises a circus performance here on June 15, featuring renowned Australian fire performance art group, the Carnival of the Divine Imagination.

The Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City announced June 8 it organises a circus performance here on June 15, featuring renowned Australian fire performance art group, the Carnival of the Divine Imagination.

Australian circus performers will join together with Vietnamese performers, according to the Australian Consulate General. This show will take place at 7.00pm at the September 23 Park Circus Centre, District 1.

Tickets for the event are available at the venue.

Performances combine circus, fire performance and body movement reflected in UV light.During this event the group will introduce their newest work titled “Elixia”. The performance is a fable that tells the tale of two companions’ depravation, separation, escape and reunion.

Australian Consul General Graeme Swift said in the statement, “We are proud to bring the artists to Ho Chi Minh and introduce Australian’s creativity to the local people.”

“The performance will feature a large Australian presence, furthering strengthening people-to-people links between Australia and Vietnam and enhancing an understanding of Australian contemporary art,” he added.

The Carnival of the Divine Imagination will also participate in workshops with the Ho Chi Minh City Circus Group.

Last week the troupe performed at the Hue Festival 2010 in central Vietnam.

The Carnival of the Divine Imagination has been captivating audiences around the world, with their striking and energetic displays of fire and luminescence.
