Actress Ngo Thanh Van’s annual charity program to raise funds for children with heart defects will be held  at Ho Chi Minh City’s White Palace on May 20.

The 5th ‘Scar of life,’ called “The Prayer” this year, will see performances by Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc and singers including Nam Khanh, Hoang Bach, Ai Phuong, Nguyen Ha, Quyen Ngo, Thao Trang and Dam Vinh Hung.

An oratorio, Lua (silk), by composer Quoc Bao will be performed at the event. “Silk” was introduced publicly for the first time last August for helping children with blood cancer. An oratorio is a large piece of music for a group of singers and musicians.

The show will be hosted by Quynh Huong.

Since its beginning in 2010, ‘Scar of life’ has funded free heart surgery for 716 children, each of which would have otherwise cost around VND20 million (US$950).

Van expects this year’s show to support 300 children with congenital cardiac diseases.

Entrance tickets for the show cost VND2.2 million (US$100).
