The factory is located in Tien Son Industrial Zone in Bac Ninh Province, 20 km from Ha Noi. The 40,000 square meter plant, with total investment of US$90 million, is planned to start operation in early 2007.

Canon will employ around 3,500 workers for the new plant in the first phase, and plans to recruit 2,500-3,000 more workers in the second phase.

This Canon facility is also the third project awarded to Zamil Steel by Japanese construction corporation Obayashi.

The two other Canon factories in Vietnam are located in Ha Noi’s Thang Long Industrial Park and Que Vo Industrial Zone in Bac Ninh Province. The two plants manufacture ink-jet and laser printers for Canon to sell all over the world.

Pre-engineering building manufacturer Zamil Steel Vietnam is a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s Zamil Steel Industries and Mitsui of Japan.
